I’m proudly from the North of England & #ThePennines are ingrained in that, but I hadn’t explored the North Pennines till the last year or so.
Some in County Durham, some in Northumberland, some in Cumbria.

Photograph taken in autumn a few years ago. Picture quality isn't the best but the scene is lovely. Taken on a day visit to Rivington on the Pennine Hills in Lancashire where there are some beautiful archways, bridges, and towers nestled within the forest areas. Image shows an arched window built from stones lined up in a fan shape (no glass or frame). The bottom edge has a large flat piece of stone. Looking through the arch you can see the forest beyond. The trees are starting to get their autumnal colours. In the centre are two trees which seem to be almost entwined like they are dancing. Glimpses of white sky beyond and sunlight lightens everything.

Photograph taken looking out at the view from Rivington Pike, up on the top of the Pennines. Monochrome filter used for drama. Great day out up there! There's a protective fence towards the top of the ridge and into a horizontal beam are carved the words 'Do more than just exist' then on the middle beam 'I love you'. Powerful messages. Yes, I struggled to get the horizon and the beams perfectly horizontal! Monochrome image shows large clouds in the sky above a landscape disappearing to the horizon. Across the image stretch three fence beams, the top two have an inspirational quote carved in. Between the top two beams you can see the upright posts of lower fenced areas and rough landscape on the steep descent down from the Pike.

After climb over Cronkley Fell, was divine to skinny dip in the extraordinarily warm (20°C), silky water of the tarn at 450m. Could have stayed in indefinitely.
