Here's my latest thing for Arquine (#115: Layers): 'Return to 'Bozz-le-Bland', which is a continuation of the cartoon in Arquine #106: Mediations), and due to a goof on my side, will be publised untitled (Dammit!) #klaussketches #architecture, #comics, #city #ThePneumaticPassage
Right now on my drafting table: #ThePneumaticPassage: Adding a section on the Eastern 'La Grand Place de Bozz-le-Bland' (from Arquine #106: Mediations), for my upcoming piece in Arquine #115: Stories.
Go find all the referents!

#ThePneumaticPassage: Ok, kickstarting the blueiting day with the final form of 'Ospedalis', for Arquine magazine #114: 'Care' (which continues my exploitation of unbuilt visionary projects with Corb's 1964-70 Hospital in Venice) #klaussketches #architecture, #city #comics & #metaphysical #scifi 5/n
Retaking my exploitation of unbuilt visionary projects, this time with Corb's 1964-70 Hospital in Venice (among other things). | #ThePneumaticPassage: Final inks of 'Ospedalis', for Arquine magazine #114: 'Care'. #klaussketches #architecture, #city, #comics & #metaphysical #scifi 4/n
Retaking my exploitation of unbuilt visionary projects, this time with Corb's 1967-70 Hospital in Venice (and some Eisenman, of course). | #ThePneumaticPassage: Partial inks of 'Ospedalis', for Arquine magazine #114: 'Care'. #klaussketches #architecture, #city, #comics & #metaphysical #scifi 3/n
Retaking my exploitation of unbuilt visionary projects, this time with Corb's 1967-70 Hospital in Venice (and a nod to Toni Garcés). | #ThePneumaticPassage: Partial inks of 'Ospedalis', for Arquine magazine #114: Care. #klaussketches #architecture, #city, #comics & #metaphysical #scifi 2/n
Retaking my exploitation of unbuilt visionary projects, this time with Corb's 1967-70 Hospital in Venice. | #ThePneumaticPassage: Pencils of 'Ospedalis', my next contribution to Arquine magazine #114: Care. #klaussketches #architecture, #city, #comics & #metaphysical #scifi 1/n
Here are some both constipated and yet squiggly inks. | #ThePneumaticPassage: Two-pager of the city-boat of 'Corbeline' [aka: Corb-e-Liner], my next thing for Arquine #113: housing. #klaussketches #architecture, #comics & #metaphysical #scifi
While producing this piece, I got a little too excited and kept drawing some more detailed vistas. | #ThePneumaticPassage: Two-pager of the city-boat of 'Corbeline' [aka: Corb-e-Liner], my next thing for Arquine #113: housing. #klaussketches #architecture, #comics & #metaphysical #scifi
When posting the previous image, I realized there was a duplicated panel. Here's the fixed version. | #ThePneumaticPassage: Final two-pager of the city-boat of 'Corbeline' [aka: Corb-e-Liner], my next thing for Arquine #113: housing. #klaussketches #architecture, #comics & #metaphysical #scifi
...and the final piece, with everything pieced together as a two-page installment. | #ThePneumaticPassage: Pencils vs. Inks of the city-boat of 'Corbeline' [aka: Corb-e-Liner], my next for Arquine #113: housing. #klaussketches #architecture, #comics & #metaphysical #scifi
I also threw in a -very simple- general view of the city-boat, and some other Corbusian ship-buildings. | #ThePneumaticPassage: Pencils vs. Inks of the city-boat of 'Corbeline' [aka: Corb-e-Liner], my next for Arquine #113: housing. #klaussketches #architecture, #comics & #metaphysical #scifi
Of course, this is a nod both to the concrete ships made in the early 20th century, to Le corbusier, and to... | #ThePneumaticPassage: Inks of the city-boat of 'Corbeline' [aka: Corb-e-Liner], my next for Arquine #113: housing. #klaussketches #architecture, #comics & #metaphysical #scifi
That strategy worked better with the plans, I think. | #ThePneumaticPassage: Inks of the city-boat of 'Corbeline' [aka: Corb-e-Liner], my next for Arquine #113: housing. #klaussketches #architecture, #comics & #metaphysical #scifi
Since people seem to be rediscovering this piece, here's the referent I shamelessly traced over, from Giraud's 'Blueberry'. Care to find which album it comes from? | #ThePneumaticPassage: 'Routh Jam', my (re)imagining Moebius's #city of Armjourth #klaussketches #architecture, #comics & #scifi
In the final piece, I tried to hide the disaster with copious amounts of (Spanish) text, hoping to make it less obvious. Not sure I completely succeeded -if at all-, though | #ThePneumaticPassage: Pencils of 'Corbeline', my next 4 Arquine #113: housing. #klaussketches #architecture #comics #scifi
Well, as expected, the results were pretty underwhelming. | #ThePneumaticPassage: Pencils of 'Corbeline', my next for Arquine #113: housing. #klaussketches #architecture, #comics & #metaphysical #scifi
I thought of drawing some small vignettes showing every part of the city, but I'm running late, so I'll ink them right on top of these blue roughs. | #ThePneumaticPassage: Pencils of 'Corbeline', my next for Arquine #113: housing. #klaussketches #architecture, #comics & #metaphysical #scifi
Drawing imaginary #city-#ships is a lot of fun, but way more time consuming than I would have expected. | #ThePneumaticPassage: Pencils of 'Corbeline', my next contribution to Arquine magazine #113: collective housing. #klaussketches #architecture, #comics & #metaphysical #scifi
And the subsequent, much more impressive (I think) reverse shot, from a few minutes later in the story. | #ThePneumaticPassage: 'Routh Jam', my (re)imagining Moebius's #city of Armjourth in 'Le Garage Hermetique' #klaussketches #architecture, #comics & #metaphysical #scifi
Which is, again, shamelessly lifted from installment #7 of Le Garage Hermetique. | #ThePneumaticPassage: 'Routh Jam', my (re)imagining Moebius's #city of Armjourth in 'Le Garage Hermetique' #klaussketches #architecture, #comics & #metaphysical #scifi
Gonna keep this alive with this scan of a much less impressive vista of the city: Routh Jam's Central Gardens & Square | #ThePneumaticPassage: 'Routh Jam', my (re)imagining Moebius's #city of Armjourt in 'Le Garage Hermetique' #klaussketches #architecture, #comics & #metaphysical #scifi
Those with a keen eye will immediately notice the whole scene has been traced off the opening half-splash of 'Mister Blueberry'. | #ThePneumaticPassage: 'Routh Jam', my (re)imagining Moebius's #city of Armjourt in 'Le Garage Hermetique' #klaussketches #architecture, #comics & #metaphysical #scifi
I needed some close-ups from the characters arriving at the city, so I had to look for somewhere else for referents. | #ThePneumaticPassage: 'Routh Jam', my (re)imagining of Moebius's city of Armjourth in 'Le Garage Hermetique'. #klaussketches #architecture, #comics & #metaphysical #scifi #city
Yet one more close-up. | #ThePneumaticPassage: Pencils of 'Arriving at Routh Jam' (detail), my (re)imagining of Moebius's city of Armjourth in 'Le Garage Hermetique'. #klaussketches #architecture, #comics & #metaphysical #scifi #city
On the other hand' "Book & Letter", the Kabalite's Bookshop, was concocted using a few real-life referents. | #ThePneumaticPassage: Bozz-le-Bland', my (re)imagining of Bolzedura, from 'Le Garage Hermetique' #klaussketches #architecture, #comics & the #metaphysical #scifi #city
Repurposing Moebius: The innards of Bozz-le-Bland (pencils, left) vs. Le Bandard Fou (page 6, right). | #ThePneumaticPassage: Bozz-le-Bland' (@Arquine #106: Mediations), my (re)imagining of Bolzedura, from 'Le Garage Hermetique' #klaussketches #architecture, #comics & the #metaphysical #scifi #city
Then, a plot started developing, and I needed the characters to keep exploring other parts of the city... but there were none! So... I had to look for other suitably 'Bolzedurian' cityscapes in Moebius's work that I could repurpose. That's how this one came to be. #ThePneumaticPassage, #scifi #city
The point of all this was to scratch an itch: I've always been mesmerized by the splash of Bolzedura in 'Le Garage Hermetique', and what the rest of the city could look like. So I decided to tacke it myself, inserting in my Moebius-homage project #ThePneumaticPassage and going on from there.
And, of course... Koolhaas in the desert (B). | #ThePneumaticPassage: Partial pencils of 'La Grand Place de Bozz-le-Bland' (@Arquine #106: Mediations), my (re)imagining of Moebius's city of Bolzedura, from 'Le Garage Hermetique' #klaussketches #architecture, #comics & the #metaphysical #scifi #city
