This quilt was made by Cora Nimtz from New Orleans, Louisiana. She named it "Cain and Able."
Cora hand quilted this piece, and I'll attach a close-up of the dogs because the thread painting is exceptional.
It is displayed at the International Quilt Museum, Lincoln, Nebraska.
Part of a large tree trunk, lies horizontally across a dense hedge and fence, its numerous branches fanning out against a blue sky with scattered white clouds.
Yesterday was very windy, part of our willow tree came down and is balancing on a neighbour's shed and over a neighbour's track.
A neighbour has a JCB so on Saturday we are going to try to move it.

Hollis Chatelain of Hillsborough, NC named this quilt "Terraced Landscape."
Hollis had seen pictures of Yemen, where a friend lived. Hollis made drawings of the landscape of Yemen and that became the template for this quilt. The colors were imagined.

Brigitte Kopp from Brandenburg, Germany created this quilt to mimic the stratification of the Earth. She named it: "Earth Stories: Copper." She stitched & quilted it both by machine and by hand. She painted some of the fabric to get the right effect.
A wide green field of tall grass stretches across the foreground, gently textured by wind. In the distance, a line of leafy trees marks the horizon. Above, a dramatic sky filled with heavy, layered storm clouds spreads outward, creating a sense of movement and impending rain over the calm rural landscape.

Toni Furst Smith from Portland, OR created this quilt called "Forest Fire" for the Paducah exhibit on fire. She hand quilted, hand dyed fabric, to create a quilt that told a story about how fire is eradicating our old growth forests.

This quilt named "African Connection" designed and quilted by Quinnard Smith in Alabama, in 1980. Quinnard learned to quilt from the matriarch of the family and immediately understood what an important craft it was because it was useful and a record of their heritage.

Good afternoon and Happy #Thursdaygreen.
Had an early start today as I drove up to Mum's. It was a quite a wet drive so a bit slower than normal.
This is the view from her kitchen, colourful even on a dull and damp day.

This is "Disappearing 4 Patch" by Kim Myers. She chose a lovely pattern for her quilt. It's even one that I could consider making too.
Kim mentioned that the fabric she selected is very different from what she has used in past projects. But it literally jumped off the shelf at her.

This miniature quilt (~18 x 18) was made by Cassandra Beaver from Urbana, Ohio. She made this quilt in 2019 and named it "Converging Curves."
Check out how smooth those arcs are.
I'm impressed.

This was a small quilt, maybe 18"x18".
Angela Duhe from Grandbury, Texas is the creator of this Monarch Butterfly Challenge Quilt. She named it " Moonlight Journey."

Janene Hendrickson created this original quilt that she named "Hunter's Baby Clothesline."
She had quite a story to tell. So I will attach her comments instead of paraphrasing.
A view of 'Untitled (4x8 View)', a 2022 steel sculpture by Virginia Overton. Cheekwood Gardens, Nashville, TN USA. The sculpture appears as a framed window or door both in and viewing a clearing in the upper left of a green woodland with lush green grasses. Sunlight fills the clearing beyond the structure. Depth of the piece (several feet thick) is elusive. The rectangular frame is filled with metal tubing of various diameters (between 8 and 2 inches, inclusive) set lengthwise and viewed end-on. Interior shadows offer a hint as light from the far ends of the tubes is occluded presenting oblong cutout views of the scene behind the sculpture as if it were a habitat for gigantic mason bees. # # #

Here is a sweet holiday quilt by Cheryl Lagorio. I personally like that she used a celery green for a holiday quilt. It's softer and sweeter. Cheryl embroidered the pictures, and be still my โค๏ธ, there's bubble lights! I'll attach close-ups.

You are not seeing double! These are 2 quilts that are very similar. Beverly Johnson found 24 squares that her mother embroidered in 1936. So, as any quilter would do = she made them into 2 lap quilts. One for her mom and one to keep. She tied them with yarn, perfect!
A sturdy tree with a thick trunk and lush green leaves, partially shaded by surrounding bushes and a nearby summerhouse in the background.

This quilt won 3 ribbons. One of them was Best In Show! Gail Ghiozzi did a fabulous job on the "Carnival Flower" design. This pattern was created by Judy Neimeyer. I'm sure it's available if you want to tackle it. I could not even imagine doing something with this level of complexity

Well, the holiday season is close. I'm not seeing a lot of Christmas decorations yet. ๐ This "Oh Christmas Tree" quilt was done by Sue Schnittker. She found the pattern in Branson, MO ( by Saginaw St. Quilts. )
