Lyme disease is also not confined to far-flung, rural parts of the UK. A good friend contracted it in our local park in SW London (no, not Richmond but it's there obv) last year. They are so small when first on you, be #TickAware.
This week is #TickAwarenessWeek

Ticks next to a 5p coin - that’s the scale.
Nymphs (poppy-seed sized) are so easy to miss!
Check skin after being outdoors, especially hidden spots and remove ticks promptly.
Awareness prevents Lyme.

Now we know how variable a disease Lyme is, we now know it’s no longer about being #TickAware but about being aware if the symptoms, especially if you’re an outdoor type. Fatigue is key to this. Whether you think you’ve been bitten or not, if you are unexpectedly fatigued, asked to be tested for LD.
👏 Huge thanks to Morven-May MacCallum for representing LDUK this summer at events across Scotland - from Carriegarth Estate Games to Belladrum Festival - sharing tick safety & #LymeDisease awareness.

Small front garden which used to be a lawn but is now filled with 2 foot high daisies and long grasses.
Zoom out of small lawn that is no longer a lawn. Daisies and other tall vegetation has been mowed next to the path so no-one walking past will brush the vegetation.
#LymeDiseaseAwarenessMonth is over but for those of us affected by this awful disease it carries on. But to start June I’m posting a picture of my attempt at a tick-aware wild flower garden. Mowed near the paths so no-one has to brush past the vegetation. Loving the crazy tall daisies. #TickAware
Tick Aware - please have your tick hammers at the ready! No matter if you’ve tucked trousers into socks plus gaiters plus repellent- they will STILL find a way grrrrr. #TickAware #Tick
