“Tinker Protector” — On an orange interdepartmental envelope, the background has been completely filled in with dense black Sharpie, leaving only faint traces of the original printed text and hole punches visible. Over this dark field, the entire scene — robot, cat, grass, and flowers — has been drawn in silver Sharpie, a flat metallic medium that catches light but usually lacks depth. Water-based markers in blues, purples, greens, and pinks have been layered on top to shade and shape the forms, making them pop vividly from the black background. At the center, a small, round, friendly robot with gears, rivets, and a kind smile holds a large green leaf like an umbrella. A green glass dome tops its head, where a delicate dragonfly rests as if drawn to the robot’s calm presence. Below, a spotted gray cat sits in the grass, tail curled, surrounded by pink wildflowers, looking straight out of the picture and breaking the fourth wall. The combination of metallic flatness and hand shading turns this into a whimsical scene where technology and nature feel both charming and alive.
