Close up of my dog Mr. Tooticus Rex lying on his bed looking cute.
--------
In November he suddenly began having some really concerning symptoms impacting his mobility. It progressed to the point that he couldn't walk or even sit up. It was clearly vestibular but we were not sure of the cause. Initial assessment was a stroke, but I couldn't help but keep thinking what if it wasn't. So we did an MRI to confirm and instead he was diagnosed with auto immune meningitis. Definitely not on the bingo card. It was a very scary week where we almost lost him. Now he is back home and recovering and he is doing well, but it is a long road of follow up vet visits, treatments, medication, and therapies like laser, acupuncture, and physical therapy. Every day I tell him we love him and we are so grateful he is still with us.
Recovery update for Mr. #TooticusRex: He is doing quite well, putting back weight and he is back to his feisty, scamperiffic self. He still has significant mobility impacts we hope will continue to improve with treatment. Vet follow up tomorrow and we will likely tweak meds.
