Miss Biko Girl (front) and Mr. Tooticus Rex (back) are sitting on my kitchen rug while I cook, hoping for snacks. Biko is an extremely popular Filipino dessert made with sticky rice, coconut milk, and brown sugar. The day we brought her home after adopting her, she named herself because she is sweet as Biko pie. After saying goodbye to Baboy in 2024 and Wulo earlier this year, and still working through issues of autoimmune disease with Tooticus, it has really helped my heart bringing her home and getting to know her. ♥️
I still get emotional about #BaboyTheDog (🌈) not being there, but Mr. #TooticusRex and #MissBikoGirl are carrying on his legacy of being my cooking assistants and that makes me happy. ♥️

My dog Mr. Tooticus Rex is standing outside in my back driveway, down the steps and within view of my open back door. He is looking at me somewhat anxiously because I stepped back inside briefly. My property has a decorative fence and is next to a park, so wildlife comes in and out of the yard whenever they want. This includes predators like coyotes and bobcats. Because of this our dogs have 100% human supervision when they are out in the yard. It is something the dogs have gotten used to over the years and so now they don't want to be outside unless we are with them. My back steps look kind of crazy because we are attempting to train Tooticus to use a ramp instead of the stairs. So we blocked the steps with red wrought iron chairs. It has been somewhat successful so far. Lol.
Me: * I walk inside to grab pick up bags from the windowsill beside the door. *
Mr. #TooticusRex: "MOM, you're supposed to be outside with me."

My dogs are sitting in the middle of the room with sun coming in through the window. They are all pit bull mixes. Baboy (blue/white) is on the left, Wulo (blond/white) is in the middle, Mr. Tooticus Rex (blue/white) is on the right. Sadly, both Baboy and Wulo are gone now. We unexpectedly had to say goodbye to Baboy just over a year ago. And we had to say goodbye to Wulo yesterday.

I am with my dog Mr. Tooticus Rex at a vet follow up visit. Everything is fine, just when he got sick last November (we almost lost him), the treatment protocol takes a year. We are in an exam room where there is a floor to ceiling window, so Tooticus is lying on the floor by the window in the sun spot.
When you are at the vet (again) for another follow up BUT you can enjoy the sun spot in good ol' climate control...

This is an outtake of the previous picture, where Mr. Tooticus Rex is fussing because he wants snacks and Wulo has his tongue out. Baboy has his tongue out too, but it was always like that because he could not keep it in his mouth due to missing teeth.

My dog is sitting in the backseat of the car looking especially pleased with himself and super goofy. I have a hammock made of denim to protect the seats that he is sitting on, extremely upright with his ears fully up. I have no idea what he is so happy about but I am here for it.

Close up of my dog Mr. Tooticus Rex lying on his bed looking cute. -------- In November he suddenly began having some really concerning symptoms impacting his mobility. It progressed to the point that he couldn't walk or even sit up. It was clearly vestibular but we were not sure of the cause. Initial assessment was a stroke, but I couldn't help but keep thinking what if it wasn't. So we did an MRI to confirm and instead he was diagnosed with auto immune meningitis. Definitely not on the bingo card. It was a very scary week where we almost lost him. Now he is back home and recovering and he is doing well, but it is a long road of follow up vet visits, treatments, medication, and therapies like laser, acupuncture, and physical therapy. Every day I tell him we love him and we are so grateful he is still with us.
Recovery update for Mr. #TooticusRex: He is doing quite well, putting back weight and he is back to his feisty, scamperiffic self. He still has significant mobility impacts we hope will continue to improve with treatment. Vet follow up tomorrow and we will likely tweak meds.

My dog Mr. Tooticus Rex is sitting in the backseat of my car. He is feeling feisty and his lip is curled like Elvis. He looks really skinny and frail because he got really sick in November (the official diagnosis is autoimmune meningitis) and he lost a lot of muscle mass because of that, and it has gotten worse because since then he has been on high doses of Prednisone. He is only about 7 years old and so it makes me sad to see him looking so old and frail. I am hoping with his follow-up at the neurologist today we can start tapering him off the Prednisone. Not only will it help us to get muscle back on him and to a healthy weight, it tells me that he has recovered from the autoimmune issue to the point where we can transition to a maintenance/management plan to keep him healthy.
Mr. #TooticusRex is feeling super feisty. He looks old and frail because he got very sick last month, the vet is happy now with how he is doing. We have another follow up today and I hope we can start tapering him off the Prednisone. Then he will start getting his muscle mass back.
