In a week—on 8/14—the transplant council decides if I’m fully listed for a kidney. Approved, declined, or deferred. I’ve been through so much to get here. The waiting is heavier than I expected. #KidneyTransplant #DisabilityLife #ChronicIllness #OrganDonation #TransplantJourney
You said you liked storms, So I let you in. Turns out you can only handle A little rain, And I am a HURRICANE.
I once spoke of myself this way. Separating the parts of myself as an easy to deal with the difficulties of my particular neurodivergence. This #transplantjourney and the illnesses just before it, taught me to accept my full self. To "take off my mask," if you will. Now? "I and my storm are one."

My first-step kidney transplant meeting to go over compatibility, medications, & education was canceled due to bad weather but is now rescheduled for March 3! Glad it’s already set so soon. #KidneyTransplant #ESKD #TransplantJourney #HealthUpdates #Education #Hope

I went out for full Chinese tea service. It's the little victories right now. #TransplantJourney
#KidneyAubert update about my #KidneyTransplant. Just finished getting the last drain taken off. I'm now free of all the attachments. And final approval for working out in the gym is next Tuesday barring any issues. Next up on the #TransplantJourney is travel restrictions, but that's late April.
How hilariously messed up is my body rhythm after receiving "Kidney Aubert?" I have no issue waking up for 6am labs because I used to be up so early for dialysis. But when I get home? I fall right to sleep like I had been at dialysis. #KidneyTranplant #TransplantJourney #KidneyTransplantRecipient
Late night thoughts:
1. I miss having a real life muse for writing #poetry. It's like an infinite well of ideas to create from.
2. The darkest pain of my #TransplantJourney is never hearing from my siblings.
3. It would be interesting to see the impact of #BlackSky on information access here.
They took out my last JP drain yesterday, reduced & eliminated some medication, & moved me to weekly follow-ups. I then slept the whole night, no problem. Safe to say, "Kidney Aubert" is a huge success. 6 more weeks & I can be in public again. #KidneyTransplantRecipient

I have my phone back. AND A NEW #KIDNEY!
"Rumors of my demise have been greatly exaggerated."

Okay okay. One update since I'm "Sitting up in my room," shoutout to Brandy, for a little longer until pre-op. Everything is on schedule and morning labs were good. I'm at peace. I'm ready. Get your big glass of celebration water ready. And see you after I get "Kidney" Aubert. #TransplantJourney
The poster is holding a red plush stuffed kidney with a smiling face in their lap in a hospital room.
The poster is holding a Keychain with a picture of their kidney donor and friend, as well as a miniature red plush stuffed kidney.
My donor had a friend make us matching kidney Keychains. And a big stuffed kidney to "Take her with me on all my crazy adventures" once I'm healed up. We've been friends for 30 years. Now we'll be bonded forever. She's giving me #NewLife #TransplantJourney
Getting ready to head to my last #dialysis treatment at the clinic I've been going to for almost 3 years now. I feel so many things at once. It's hard to describe. Perhaps I'll write something about this while I'm in the hospital tomorrow and Monday before the surgery on Tuesday. #TransplantJourney
Continuing our bone marrow #TransplantJourney. My husband got word today from the City of Hope transplant coordinator that he'll probably go in for the transplant around December 15. We are so heartened by the person who gave us this gift. He has no idea how much it means.
It means everything.
I chatted with my editor and figured out the post #TransplantSurgery schedule for writing my next Darkland series book.
They suggested I focus on writing the memoir I'm doing about my #KidneyFailure & #TransplantJourney. So until then check out my poetry book.

Good news yesterday! The best news. My husband has been waiting for the perfect #bonemarrow #transplant donor to come along and yesterday, we got word from #CityofHope hospital that he did. A 10 out of 10 match. Sing hallelujah, come on get happy… #transplantjourney

Thank you! My family and friends, especially the ones here in Kansas City are all getting into the countdown. 2 weeks from today will be my last dialysis treatment. Hopefully ever! #TransplantJourney
I've gone from accepting my death. To knowing there is a tangible finish just ahead.
There are still challenges, but the finish line is in sight. Thank you for all your help in that progress. #NotDoneYet #TransplantJourney #dialysiswarrior #DialysisJourney #kidneytransplant
