A cropped screenshot of a diagrammatic road map, tall and narrow. Down the middle are two "motorway" style roads using parallels pairs of lines, instead of single lines, and they join in a T-junction in the middle, as the bottom one turns off to the right in parallel with middle horizontal road. The bottom motorway is coloured green and the top one is coloured blue. The blue road has two neat "exits" linked to different sides of the red horizontal road, indicating a style of freeway off-ramp where on-ramps and off-ramps are on opposite sides of a bridge. The red road appears to be a bridge over the blue motorway because the map shows a gap in the blue motorway pair of lines. The off-ramps must also be on-ramps because they are also in pairs. They join the motorway in a way that indicates directionality, but not road lanes: Therefore this diagram's purpose is to show routing options, and not to suggest lane guidance. As a secondary purpose this diagram also shows road design. Where the green motorway meets the blue one, it attaches to a roundabout bridge elevated over the blue motorway. At the bottom, the horizontal grey roads attach to the green motorway in yet another way, indicating that the green motorway may only be entered towards or exited from the north. No southern access is available at that interchange.
What can I use to make this? Hopefully easily (as in, the lines all move in a group if I need to reposition), but honestly I don't care if not — I just want it to know about curves and gaps, positioning nicely by default.

With today's announcement of new #LondonOverground line names here's a reminder that rather than increasing the number of individual lines on the #tubemap you can reduce the graphical complexity, and at the same time increase useful information.
