Two recent strikes of union staff, NEA and UAW, has me thinking about how this relates to #uniondemocracy, developing a #rank-and-file consciousness that members "own" the union, power on the job. Who controls staff? Who should?

IMO the defining issue is not their origins but their political commitments and assumptions, whether they value and support #uniondemocracy , defending the #publicgood, and mobilizing members to fight smart.
