Thanks for doing this!

This is a very hot topic in California right now, especially LA: #SB79 would override local height restrictions around public transit stations.

Most #urbanists consider this an obvious good. But within the #socialist community, not everyone loves giving private […]

Morning #urbanists! Sorry for the repost [I know annoying when someone (moi) has a bone/idea between their teeth] but for those who have not yet seen the bright green light of a #pocketpark in Bradlee, here ya go: the first draft of my proposal.

Huren van Utrechtse nieuwbouwwoningen worden waarschijnlijk honderden euro’s duurder De gemeente Utrecht is van plan om bij nieuwbouwcomplexen hogere aanvangshuren voor midden huurwoningen toe te staan.

So I have seen #urbanists on here claim that new housing will bring down #rents.

Here is an example of the opposite: "New #Utrecht housing likely to cost hundreds of €/month more"

Wake me up when rents actually go down due to new housing 😩

'It arrives in a sleeve featuring its title, Euro-Country, written in the kind of Gaelic script beloved of Irish theme pubs, above an exceptionally striking photo based on Jean-Léon Gérôme’s 1896 painting Truth Coming Out of Her Well. It features Thompson emerging from a fountain in the middle of a shopping centre near her home town of Dunboyne. “Blanchardstown shopping centre,” she says. “For the first 10, 11 years of my life, it was like my local village. My sister, who lives in Blanch now, goes to the shopping centre every day. You drive there if you want to see other people and then you drive back home again and live in your house by yourself.”

That’s the reality of much of Irish life, she says. “There’s a kind of space that Ireland is occupying in western media culture right now, a little more fetishised and trendy than it’s ever been. Americans think it’s cute; English people are like, ‘Ooh, I love Guinness and Kneecap and The Banshees of Inisherin, and I’m getting my Irish passport and mmm, I love potato farl.’ People talking about Hozier like he’s a magical, delicate fairy from the bog. It’s a romanticised version of Ireland that doesn’t exist. It’s a really hard place to live, a really hard place to grow up, unless you have money, which we didn’t. So yeah, magical, beautiful, mystical Ireland: it’s a shopping centre, that’s what I grew up with. A shopping centre.”'

Amazing how people can claim to be #urbanists and then design #RedBoxBurbs on greenfield sites, at wastefully low densities, remote from public transport, with designs that militate against walking and cycling.

Most interactions (comments, likes, reposts, quote posts) were generally by #urbanists. So I felt I suddenly and unexpectedly had a good candidate for a stock media submission to various agencies, related to that topic. However it's not my area of expertise and I am unfamiliar with related terms

Do you think birds who nest in buildings and such are avian #urbanists?

And the ones who nest in trees are like off-grid homesteaders?

This one is called "Leaving the Opera in the Year 2000", Albert Robida, 1901. Yellow and pastel pink flying cars, all weirdly shaped like fish, are picking up elegant young couples in evening gowns and suits. They are waiting for their rides on platforms on the top of staircases that just stop in mid air. The city is just visible far below.

#urbanists have completely forgot a once common site in almost every town: A rooming house. Common trackside structure, early TOD.

This could be a HUGE factor in saving people from becoming unhoused, and provide decent quality living for longer stays.

This is also a rather nice HO scale kit.

It's funny - #urbanists and #cyclists point to #Toronto as a bastion of innovation...but same staff banned #e-scooters ...be proud of "Toronto Barriers" ...but the same team said our tires might get stuck in streetcar tracks despite being 2x wider than those tracks...

NYC is debating requiring licenses to ride ebikes. This would literally kill people. YouTube video by Miser - MicromobilityNYC

From ripping out bike lane in Ontario to crackpot bike licensing schemes in New York City, the backlash against the bike boom is here. Many try to paint micromobility riders as dangerous. We #urbanists need to get a lot more aggressive with our messaging, pushing the truth.
