A tall waterfall drops steeply down a rocky cliff face through a densely forested mountainside in the Chugach Mountains near Valdez, Alaska. Lush green forest covers the slopes on both sides of the waterfall. Above the treeline, rugged rocky ridges with patches of snow rise against a blue sky with high cirrus clouds. The waterfall originates from the Anderson Glacier above and flows toward Port Valdez below. Summer, Valdez, Alaska.

Anderson Falls, fed by the Anderson Glacier, dropping straight into Port Valdez in the Chugach Mountains. The Valdez area is one of my favorite places in Alaska.

Two juvenile bald eagles face off in an aggressive confrontation on a rocky shoreline, photographed in black and white. Both birds have wings fully spread, beaks open, and talons extended toward each other. Water droplets are scattered through the air around them. The eagles display the mottled brown and white plumage typical of immature bald eagles before they develop their adult white head and tail.

Juvenile bald eagles getting a little snappy in Valdez, Alaska. Solomon Gulch Hatchery in early July, when there's enough food for everyone, but that doesn't mean anyone's going to share.
