Dear Quadra Liberals,
A number of you have called or written, asking for clarification about the process through which Wade Grant, was selected to be our candidate in the election.
Five strong and committed individuals put their names forward to stand for nomination. Each of them worked hard to connect with you and win your support. And our EDA was ready for the nomination vote to be called by the National Campaign Chairs.
While nomination votes are preferred, under the Rules for the Selection of Candidates the Leader is authorized to designate a candidate in a riding without holding a nomination vote.
Though the EDA was not involved in the decision to use this process, we all know the election is imminent. With well over a hundred ridings still without candidates there is pressure on the Campaign Chairs to move quickly. The designation of Wade Grant as our candidate means we are ready!
We thank all the contestants and their supporters for their efforts and dedication. We know that nomination contests are arduous and demanding. It is now critical that we pull together to support Wade Grant and elect a new Liberal Government in Canada in 2025.
Yours truly,
Joe Gilling, President
Catherine Evans, Candidate Search Committee Chair
