I saw this Veery in the back yard this morning through the back door. I went outside soon after and patiently waited for about 15 minutes - it turned up again. I saw it again twice during the day so I suspect it was back there for the better part of the day.

A medium-sized thrush is perched on a wire, singing. The bird has pale underparts, with a nice white belly and indistinct spots on its chest. It has a round head, white throat, and a straight bill. The lower part of the bill is bicolored, with a pale, fleshy colored base blending to a dark tip.
Here’s another Well-named Bird: the Veery. It’s a small thrush that gets its name from its song: a haunting series of “veer” notes descending in pitch. Veery singing and calling on Hulls Falls Road, Essex County, NY (25 July 2023).

On 5/9/24, an unusually tame, curious #Veery was in my flowering crabapple tree. On 5/10/23, an unusually tame, curious Veery was in that same tree. Feels like it's gotta be the same bird, fresh off a flight in from f'ing VENEZUELA, landing in my yard on nearly the exact same day. WILD! #birding 🪶
