Our vet team doesn’t just care for rescued mountain lion cubs like Crimson & Clover, they give regular TLC to our 3 resident mountain lions too, including Silverado, who recently visited the OZ vet hospital for a checkup.

Spotted at the vet hospital this week—Harley the hyena! 🦷💚
Harley came in for her checkup (and some dental pampering). Our keepers noticed she was having a little trouble chewing, but four root canals later and Harley’s on the road to feeling much better!

This young barn owl was found by Oakland Zoo keepers. He was brought to Lindsay Wildlife Experience in Walnut Creek.
We are happy to report that this owl was returned to the wild back near the Zoo!

#VetTales Friday: Our friends at Wildcare in San Rafael called seeking veterinary assistance with 2 rescued Western Pond Turtles.
After an exam and CT scan on the adult turtle (who's missing a front foot), our team determined he was healthy enough to be released back into the wild!

Kern black bear had a damaged incisor tooth that needed to be removed.
The tooth extraction went smoothly, and while they were there, the team gave this 437-pound fuzz ball a full exam as well. He's in great health!

No joke! It was time to check on Tejon black bear’s right upper canine. Luckily it has healed well.
Our vet team also took the opportunity to give this 470lb boy a physical and update his vaccines. He is in excellent health!

While Ikea was at the hospital, our team did a full exam. Other than her itchiness, she’s in great shape!

Before he journeys to Birmingham Zoo in Alambama, Spruce the rescued mountain lion was examined by our vet team.
Dr. Lauren and our star vet techs made sure that Spruce was healthy and ready for travel….he’s good to go! 😺

Budweiser the island flying fox has a thumb injury, so he visited the vet hospital this week. Dr. Goodnight and team inspected the injury and gave this marvelous mammal a complete exam, bloodwork, and CT scan.
Overall, Budweiser is aging gracefully!

Each of the three is growing and eating well. Hospital keepers Amber and Nikki keep everyone stimulated with new structures and enrichment items regularly.

Coloma, one of our resident mountain lions, visited our vet hospital this week for a routine full checkup.
Additionally, a vet tech from Lenity speciality clinic collected blood, which we will store.
Overall Coloma looks great! Way to go OZ vet team 😻
2024 #VetTales highlight: Lily the Tiger 🐯
Lily was brought to us by the CAFW who rescued her from a privately owned facility. We helped this mistreated tiger recover and heal.
Lily (now known as Cleo) is living happily under the expert care of the team at @PAWS animal sanctuary.
