#VinnieColletta would follow #JackKirby to #DC in 1970, originally doing the inks on his #NewGods books. However, Kirby would quickly tire of Colletta cutting corners on his art and even accused him of spying for #Marvel, leading him to be fired.
#VinnieColletta made his big break when he inked #JackKirby's pencils on #Thor, beginning in #JourneyIntoMystery #106 (July 1964). While his erasures remained a problem, Kirby & Colletta would establish the look of the character that continues to this day.
#VinnieColletta quickly gained a reputation as a talented inker but one who cut corners, frequently cutting pieces out of the original art. Artists like #NealAdams & #AlexToth loathed him but #JackKirby tolerated him.
#VinnieColletta got his start in comics in the 1950's on romance books, where he originally penciled & inked his work before focusing on inking. At one point, he even shared a NJ studio with legendary inker #JoeSinnott, who noted even then Colletta would cut corners despite his talent.
