A bit quieter than hoped for at Kenfig Pool this morning as although very humid the thunderstorms passed us by. The pick of the bunch were four Common Sandpipers that dropped in to join this one that was photographed there yesterday. Grey Wagtail & five Eurasian Wigeon also noted #walesBirding

The Great crested grebe parent brought its demanding offspring an eel, bashing it against the water to try to subdue it. The chick gobbled it down but the eel wasn't giving up that easily & wriggled back out again. It was 5 minutes before the eel was eventually swallowed. But ... #WalesBirding

A new bird for the garden list this morning as Manx shearwaters headed down the Bristol Channel, apparently in their hundreds, but I was just happy to see a few passing closer to shore. Thanks to @graham7777777.bsky.social for the heads up. :-) #WalesBirding

'My' crows have a kid! I thought they might be having a second try last time I visited as the male & female came separately for food, & they were taking food in to the woods rather than caching it in the field. (Kid left, mum right in the pics. Dad was at my feet, too close for a pic.) #WalesBirding
