Two kids smile at the camera holding spades. They are wearing high vis tabards and standing on muddy ground.

I now have an app that identifies insects - Picture Insect. I have a few photos (mainly moths) that I was unable to identify. First up is the Dor Beetle pictured by the Bold Burn near #Walkerburn. Biggest beetle I’ve ever seen and beautiful with it. #wildlife #SvottisBorders.

First Bordered White on the banks of the Bold Burn near #Walkerburn, and I actually thought it might be a Small Heath Butterfly from the way it flew. High on a tree, so a real stretch but worth the effort. Those antennae! #moths #ScottishBorders #wildlife.

Some more Father’s Day blues. Had given up on seeing any butterflies and them spotted one resting on the walk back. Two more spotted sunbathing further down the track. Always great to see. 2/2. #Walkerburn #ScottishBorders #Wildlife #Butterflies

Some Father’s Day blues. A great walk with the dogs up the Bold Burn near Walkerburn looking for Common Blue Butterflies. There were a fair number of Damsel Flies, but no butterflies in the usual spot by the ponds. 1/2 #Walkerburn #ScottishBorders #wildlife
