Dunfermline Abbey for #WallPaintingsOnWednesday, or early 16th Century vaulting paintings in this case, in the north aisle of the nave. St Peter at the bottom, St Paul at the top, St Andrew on the right, but who's that on the left?

The wall painting of St George at All Saints Nunney, Somerset with some interesting symbols round his head. Any idea what they might mean?

Church website suggests possible connection to Richard II.

St Albans Cathedral. Although it looks medieval, this painting of Offa, King of Mercia (757-796) is thought to have been created in the late 17th century.

The Blessed Virgin and St Elizabeth place their hands on each others bumps, a 15th Century depiction of the Visitation at Willingham, Cambridgeshire, for #WednesdayWallPaintings. Unusually, they both look outwards to face the viewer.

St George defeats the dragon in a finely drawn 15th Century wall painting at Troston, Suffolk. It's one of two in the church, the other being a century older.

The 'Doom' painting over the chancel arch. To the bottom left is an angel wearing a white robe, outlined (very faintly) in red. In the centre is a second angel (both of them have blonde hair), with red and white robes. Everything else is indistinct from the ground. Dated to the reconstruction of the church after a lightning strike and fire in 1466

Black and white photo of the interior of the nave, with much more of the original painting clearly visible on the chancel arch. The photo is old, and undated, but the church is lit by oil lamps, rather than electricity.

The Doom at St Thomas Salisbury has been posted recently. Round the corner in the lady chapel we can find some lovely C15 paintings. Here we see the Lily in a vase for Mary, and the garter and cross possibly as a nod to the Guild of St George. #WallPaintingsWednesday

Recent research suggests that medieval wall paintings lie beneath a damaged Tudor wall painting called The Adoration of the Magi. A major restoration project is planned
