Saddened and shocked to see the main ornamental lake in #Wanstead Park totally drained of water when I went for a walk there this weekend.
I do hope the lake can be repaired and revived

Prefabs were built on Wanstead Flats in 1946 to ease the post-war housing shortage (particularly in the then Borough of West Ham).

A decision was made in the late 1950s to remove them and this had been carried out by 1962.

What I like about this piece of #fantasyart is that it began life as a photo of the inside of a dead tree - 'Dick Turpin's tree', which is beside his uncle's grave (Thomas Turpin), in St Mary's #Wanstead. I love how real things can become fantastical with a little imagination! #artists #steampunk
