There were fewer orks then there had been before, of course, but that was the way of war. The best went on to the next fight, and the ones that didn't, didn't: at least, unless the rumours were true, and when you died Gork and Mork gave you a new body and sent you back to fight again. Zagnob wasn't sure about that, because he certainly couldn't remember being anyone other than Zagnob, but that in itself was comforting, in a way. If he hadn't been anything before Zagnob, then he was unlikely to be anything after Zagnob. Being dead and stuck in your own body unable to move at all, let alone go fast, was the worst thing he could think of, so with any luck he just wouldn't even know he was dead.
