While roadside ditches and #culverts are usually the responsibility of the landowner, when #watercourses are culverted beneath the #highway, the #HighwaysAuthority must:
· Repair any collapses
· Remove blockages

Water vole habitat in Gloucestershire 'illegally' destroyed The Environment Agency says studies showed water voles left the area after the destruction.

I imagine that this unkowing destruction of #watervole habitat is probably commonplace across the UK. What is required is a framework for prioritising the #environmental services provided by #ditches & #watercourses with #predator control.
