The restored entrance to Wayland’s Smithy in Oxfordshire - a Neolithic chambered long barrow close to the Uffington White Horse. The barrow was built over an earlier burial structure which held the remains of at least 14 individuals. 📸 My own. #TombTuesday #WaylandsSmithy

Around 93 years later, me on one of my many visits to #WaylandsSmithy
Colour portrait photo. Wayland's Smithy early neolithic chambered long barrow in Oxfordshire. There is a low drystone wall to the left and right edges of the photo. The shaded dark stone covered entrance to the chamber of the long barrow in the middle. Top of the photo is blue sky, green trees. At the bottom the entrance has a low stone to climb to get in, and an open stone lined path. On top of the barrow is brown bare soil and patches of grass.
