This small circle of stones in the Valley of Stones is the remnants of a bronze or iron age house. The house itself would have been built out of wood, just using the stones for additional external support.

🏮This week's offering for #TombTuesday is The Grey Mare & her Colts in #Dorset. This is a #Neolithic chambered tomb overlooking a dry valley. At the east end of the mound four massive #Sarsen stones, three upright and one recumbent, represent a shallow crescent-shaped facade.

Hi new followers! I don’t post too often but when I do it’ll most likely be about #archaeology, #landscape and #sarsen (which is a type of rock, see photos).
I’ve been studying #sarsen stone since 2016 but never noticed this little run of 18 coping stones on the back wall of Play Close in the village!
We’re on the Corellian Rag ridge so most stonework is limestone from our parish quarries. Nice to see these!
