Hal rescues the unconscious Ghoul from an explosion of the villain's own making. The heroic werewolf manages to foil his counterpart's evil scheme in the process.
The Ghoul (background left) awakens, confused. Hal the werewolf (foreground right) looks down upon him gently.
The Ghoul asks, "Why did you save me? Why didn't you just let me burn?"
Hal answers, "You've suffered enough cruelty already. You don't need punishment—you just need a brother." The werewolf pauses, them continues: "And with Anubis and Wepwawet as my witnesses, I will be a brother to you, if you let me."

In "Holy Canidae" from "The Mauling Man," Jane teaches the young werewolf Hal to read. In his human form (center), Hal looks through Jane's collection of Egyptology books and learns about the Egyptian jackal Gods, Anubis (left background) and Wepwawet (right background). Learning about these Gods sparks a passion in young Hal for truth, justice, and protection of the innocent. Hal becomes a devout worshiper of Anubis and Wepwawet, and he decides he wants to be just like Them when he grows up.
In "Holy Canidae" from "The Mauling Man," the werewolf Hal learns to read and discovers the Egyptian Gods Anubis and Wepwawet, who inspire him to become a hero. More info in the alt text, and music is in the comments.
