Today in Labor History 11/11/1919: Armed "patriots" from American Legion destroyed #IWW #union hall in Centralia, WA, killing 5. tortured 7 lynched #WesleyEverest, WWI vet & IWW organizer. No one was ever prosecuted, but 6 IWW were convicted of killing an American Legion & spent 15 yrs in #prison

The #CentraliaTragedy occurred on #ThisDayInHistory in 1919. #IWW members had been repeatedly attacked, beaten, their #union hall looted. An #ArmisticeDay parade stopped outside the new hall and scared #Wobblies opened fire. #IWW activist #WesleyEverest was lynched that evening.
