One of my early photos. Western Pacific (WP) 3522 and two WP friends led an ABBA set of Union Pacific locomotives, one UP GP30 two UP GP9Bs and a UP GP35 eastbound over Keddie Wye in August 1971. WP 3522 was an EMD GP40. Reportedly: it was built in 1970, serial number 36783. Other reporting marks and numbers said to be associated with this include: UP 671 (assigned but never applied), CMNW 3005, PRLX 3005, CMNW 3522, BRC 236, PRLX 5610. Current status not known. Please do not edit, crop, "correct" or "improve" these photos without asking me first.

On Saturday, January 3, 2026, my Bowser HO model of Western Pacific (WP) 583 was leading a local past the "Salmonella" fishery at the California Central Model Railroad Club (CCMRC) in the historic Agnew depot in Santa Clara, CA. The real WP 583 was a Baldwin VO-1000, WP Class S-60. Reportedly, it was built in 1945, serial 71542. It was sold in 1973, becoming Auto-Train 624.

The real BNSF 4336 is a GE C44-9W. Reportedly: it was built in 1999 serial number 51671. My model is a Scale Trains Rivet Counter HO model.

Excursion train in Feather River Canyon On Saturday, June 4, 2011, The Northern California Explorer (NCE) excursion train went from Oroville, CA up the Feather River Canyon (FRC) then up the Highline on the former Western Pacific route all the way to Klamath Falls. In this view the train is caught at Rock Creek Trestle in the Feather River Canyon lead by AMTK 88. AMTK 88 is a GE P42DC. Reportedly: it was built in 1997, builders number 49626, from series 62-98.

This is a pretty basic Atlas model. The real WP 3511 was an EMD GP40, WP Class RS-68. Reportedly: it was built in 1967, builder's number 33056. It became UP 660. It was rebuilt and sold to KCS 4774, becoming KCS 2819.

WP GP40s at Niles On Sunday, May 18, 2025, my HO models of Western Pacific (WP) 3508 and 3511 were pulling a freight at the Tri-City Society of Model Engineers model railroad in the historic Niles depot in Fremont, CA. They are stock vanilla ATLAS Silver GP40s. The real WP 3508 is an EMD GP40, WP Class RS-68. Reportedly: it was built in 1966, builder's number 31669. It was renumbered UP 657, rebuilt by MK in 1980 becoming KCS 4771 then KCS 2881.
