Ophrys insectifera

A very excellent day out with the Flora of #Cumbria Botany Group at #Whitbarrow yesterday. Went off scrambling up some rocky slopes at one point and was rewarded with these stunning Fly Orchids. Looking very healthy despite the droughted conditions

Red evening light picks out stands of trees on a stony hilltop. Low hills rise beyond and in the distance are higher hills streaked with snow. There’s a light mist mostly in the valleys but enough to make the more distant hills insubstantial.

Another favourite image from my 30+ year photographic career. Continuing with UK landscape, this is looking from Whitbarrow in the South Lakes towards the high fells, specifically Wetherlam and Bowfell.
