Dark windblown sand surrounds lighter-colored sedimentary rock formations, exhibiting distinct layers suggestive of a long geological history. The image covers an area of approximately 3 kilometers and shows mesas eroded into layered hills with enough space between to drive a truck. The intriguing formations are a subject of ongoing scientific investigation.

Das #Winderosion auch in Europa ein Ausmaß annehmen kann, dass die Allgemeinheit betrifft, sah man zB. 2023 in #Hollabrunn, auch in Deutschland gab es in den letzten Jahren Unfälle auf Autobahnen wegen sogenannter #Dustbowl.

Aus landwirtschaftlicher Sicht haben viele eigentlich nur die #Wassererosion am Schirm, ähnlich drastische Auswirkungen hat aber auch die #Winderosion. „Es staubt halt“, „i hob beim Anbauen gar nix gsehen“ - sowas hört man jedes Jahr von Kollegen. Auch dabei geht Boden verloren.

Aligned with the UN Decade on Combating Sand & Dust Storms (2025–2034), we seek research on monitoring, modelling, impacts, restoration & governance of wind erosion & SDS.
