This bluejay is both a #WinterSurvivor and a #Corvid #BirdOfTheDay
a female Anna's Hummingbird clings to a wisteria vine in the snow. Her back is to the camera so you can see her pretty green feathers.
#BirdOfTheDay today is a #wintersurvivor - birds that hang around all winter in your area.
I know I post a lot of hummingbird photos, but this photo of a female Anna's Hummingbird is perfect.
A close-up of a brown bird with a gray and black crown and rosy colored markings on its wings perched on snowy branches, surrounded by evergreen needles and a blanket of snow.

A Gray-crowned rosy finch for #BirdOfTheDay #WinterSurvivor.
Due to its remote and rocky alpine habitat it is rarely seen. I had them all around until I decided to move to lower altitudes.

A side view of a Green Heron, looking to the right. It has a dark green cap, an auburn breast, and gorgeous iridescent green plumage all down its back and sides. This one is standing on a rock by the water.
It's not much of a feat to be a #WinterSurvivor in the San Francisco Bay Area, the #Birding theme set by @alan678.bsky.social today. However, I will never turn down an opportunity share a beautiful photo of a Green Heron, a year-round resident on Corte Madera Creek #Marin #California. 🪶

While not nearly as large as Great Blue Herons, TCHs are every bit as gorgeous. You’ll note a bit of foreground bokeh from the lower right. When shooting in the marsh environment, it can be a challenge to get a “clean shot”. I don’t mind. I think of it as including the beauty of context and/or habitat.
Here’s a #WinterSurvivor (actually, a year-a-rounder) from the salt marshes of #coastalgeorgia. This Tricolored #Heron is ducking into the shadows and #marsh grass — probably due to my attention
See ALT for a bit more on the #bird and photo.
