Theobald Wolfe Tone died of self-inflicted wounds on 19 November 1798 at the age of 35 in Provost's Prison, Dublin, not far from where he was born.

On 10 November 1798, Wolfe Tone (Bhulbh Teón) was found guilty and sentenced to be hanged. Before the sentence was carried out he was mortally wounded in attempting to slit his throat. He died on 19 November, aged of 35, in Provost's Prison.
