Duik in de diepte: 1 juni is World Reef Awareness Day Op 1 juni vieren we World Reef Awareness Day, een dag waarop we wereldwijd stilstaan bij het belang van koraalriffen – de kleurrijke onderwaterwerelden die een cruciale rol spelen in het ecosysteem van onze oceanen. Het is een dag van bewustwording, bescherming en actie. Want hoewel deze natuurlijke wonderen prachtig zijn, worden ze ook ernstig bedreigd. Waarom zijn koraalriffen zo belangrijk? Koraalriffen beslaan minder dan 1% van de oceaanbodem, maar ondersteunen meer dan 25% van het leven in zee. Ze bieden onderdak aan duizenden vissoorten, beschermen kustgebieden tegen erosie en stormvloeden, en zijn essentieel voor miljoenen mensen die afhankelijk zijn van visserij en toerisme.

1 juni is World Reef Awareness Day!
