What a shame that the amendment @cmbrookepinto.bsky.social just offered to implement the semi-open primaries component of Initiative 83 did not pass. 73% of voters made their will known. Shame on those who voted no! #letindependentsvote #YESon83
On July 14, the Council voted to fund ranked choice voting. 🎉 We're halfway there. The DC Council must fully fund Initiative 83. Semi-open primaries will let DC's 84,000 independents vote in our taxpayer-funded primaries. Write or call your CMs this week. Demand their YES vote on July 28. #YESon83

I sure hope so. One thing we learned during the signature collection process for the #YESon83 campaign is that, when folks move in the District, a lot of them fail to update their addresses with the Board of Elections. 😬 The ability to vote at any precinct in town can be both a blessing and a curse.
Implementing Initiative 83 will cost just .007% of the FY26 budget. That is a rounding error. $1.5 million for the first 4 fiscal years, most of which equals initial, start-up costs. #YESon83
Here's the data ... we won with 72.81% of the vote. I believe we can safely call that a landslide!! We earned supermajority support across all wards in the city! #YESon83
