One Year Out: Loomis Leads Mayoral Race, Horwath Close Behind, Crime Top Issue Poll shows crime is top concern for 34 per cent of Hamiltonians, highest among Ontario cities surveyed. Horwath is the only large-city mayor with negative net approval.

One year out, Keanin Loomis leads Andrea Horwath in the first poll of the 2026 municipal election.

Crime is the top issue, with Hamiltonians more concerned about this issue than anywhere else in Ontario.

Young voters support both Horwath and Poilievre.

A woman with two children dashed into the building. They were the final ones to make it on time.

Increased Advance Ballot Turned in Ward 8 By-Election 2,283 ballots cast ahead of Monday's election day, surpassing 2022 advance totals, setting as new advance ballot record.

We have a new record advance turnout number in Ward 8!

2,320 advance ballots were cast ahead of tomorrow's election day. This is more than the 1,796 valid ballots cast in advance during the 2022 municipal election.
