Zehra Little did Tavitha know that when they committed the ritual to conceive a dhampyr they were already quite pregnant. The day before, they had spent some quality time with Gortash, and had conceived Zehra. So, when the ritual was enacted, Zehra and Griselda became twins, of a sort. Cazador, having excellent hearing, heard two hearts, and all assumed that Tavitha was carrying twins by him. When Zehra was born, Tavitha offered to sacrifice her, but in a moment of rare kindness, Cazador vowed to raise her as his own. Tavitha, not really giving a shit but definitely not wanting Gortash to ever know of Zehra's existence (what is it with those two and hiding babies from each other?), agreed.
