Sundrops with purple speckled leaves
Green-and-gold finally starting to perk up
Sedum ternatum going to town
Native strawberry leaves

Using porous rocks as mulch! #gardensky #garden #gardening #mulch #mulching #blossoms #Zone7a #zone7a
Chernabog the demon lord from Fantasia stands on an upside down mini stone planter in front of a brilliant pink dianthus. Rocks line the pot.
Two larger bloomed but much less developed white and pink dianthus in a pot with a green onion plant I'm letting bolt. It is also lined and filled with small pale rocks.
My orange and yellow potted plant behind a lot with a miniature figurine of the entrance to Bag End on it and it's surrounded by larger pots. It is also lined with rocks and I will be adding rocks to the mums as well.
Potting flowers but it's looking kinda bare because they haven't grown out yet? I recommend porous rocks that help with keeping it moist! I used egg rocks. Whatcha think?
And what should I plant in the silver 2 gal bucket, dear #gardensky?? #Zone7a #BloomScrolling #blossoms
Chickens are ridiculous. 🤣😂 #BackyardChickens #Garden #flowers #Zone7a
A few small yellow winter jasmine flowers amongst the early spring branches
Signs of life! Winter Jasmine blooming after cold snowy winter. I’m emerging as well!

A 35 ft by 10 ft space in my backyard with a huge white trellis, a small green one, and the beginning of a small black one in the foremost section. Green hoses are looped through the entire area. A large wooden post is set in with concrete and is one half of what will be the gate. Green thick posts outline the space.
The new backyard garden is coming along nicely!! I'm finishing my 🥒 trellis and Mr. SBW is installing the hardware cloth fence. I laid out the soaker hoses and I only needed 2 of the 3 I bought! So that means 1 more to replace the old ones out front. I'm LOVING the warm weather. #gardensky #zone7a
Native strawberry not taking off as quickly as I'd hoped but the conditions are challenging in this spot
Green and gold looking a bit more green and greyish brown at the moment
And a few extras where we're trying to fill in/creep! #nativeplants #zone7a #wintet
Silvery Walters violets with a little frost burn
Marginal woodfern flattened but robust
Tiny tiny foamflower leaves poking out of the dirt
Super reliable sedum ternatum (stonecrop) doesn't care about any of this mess
The shady side of the house... #nativeplants #zone7a #wintet
Rhododendron bush in the snow with broken branches spliced back together
Snow drops in bloom
Shale barren buckwheat looking very scraggly
Inkberry Bush, an evergreen, absolutely loving it
#Nativeplants garden still looking pretty cold and wintery here in #zone7a #Virginia. Some survivors starting to perk up though... my poor rhododendron got crushed by snowcrete and required a splicing intervention -_-
A 3-tier metal & wire shelving system, being prepared for seed starting. 2 shelves have plastic sheeting covering them, and LED plant lights lay on the shelves, waiting to be set up. The windows behind the shelving unit look out to bright blue skies & plenty of sunshine.
An orange & white cat lays on a water-catchment tray on a shelf inside the small metal greenhouse that will be used for seed starting. He makes himself at home, cozied in the warm sunlight.
Stacks of black plastic plant pots sit on a clean stainless steel countertop, waiting to go into a hot, sudsy bath to be cleaned prior to being used this season.
Black plastic plant pots, upside down on a white towel, drip drying after being washed.
Spent the first taste of springtime-type temps of 2026 in the greenhouse, both stewing over the latest fresh hell that is the news today, and embracing the tradition of spring cleaning in preparation of starting fresh new life 🌱

Tiny sprouts in a cup of potting soil.
My strawberry seeds have started sprouting! 🥹

The problem with fighting endangered plant trafficking by making them unsellable is that those of us who would like to help conserve and propagate them in appropriate settings can't get ahold of any. You have to know a guy who knows a guy, and I don't know the right guy 😤 #nativeplants #zone7a
My chickens are just the BEST helpers EVAH. 😜 We're working on the new big backyard garden space today. I was finishing the 🫛 trellis. Mr. Soggy Boggy Witch was digging trenches for the bean trellis and my girls decided to assist. Enjoy! #BackyardChickens #gardensku #zone7a #gardening #GrowFood
Cat lying in sunlight on a windowsill, surrounded by house plants. The corners of plastic ziplock bags pock out underneath her belly.
Left some damp seeds in baggies in the sunlight to germinate. The cat informed me that was HER spot.

Strawberries, herbs, and flowers planted in milk jug outdoors.
Finally got my winter sowing started!

A black garden tray holds three seed starting trays that have 12 squares each. They are all starting onions and most of them are sprouting up quite well.
Started some last week in #zone7a! Happy growing!
Oops.

Two white chickens and a red chicken, blanche, dorothy, and sophia, nibble on some of the greens I threw out for the girls and boy.
My beat bed with beets growing quite nicely, surrounded by incandescent Christmas lights that help keep the spil warm in the evenings.
A long view of the raised bed connected to the beet bed with a couple more beats, and a few kale and collard green plants.
A group of fabric planters that each have a green growing in them of some sort and one with garlic scapes growing long.
Winter garden looking good!!!
Growing beets, collards, kale. The other planters and bed are also looking good. Took some greens to the chickens!
It's horrible that it is 61° today. Horrible. But hey, at least I can grow more food?

My hand holding a white pea blossom with another one peeking out from the leaves behind it.
Another peep blossom on a different pea plant.
Collard greens and arugula growing nicely in pots that have orange incandescent Christmas lights on them
Tiny budding Hungarian peppers somehow miraculously growing inside of a clay pot also with orange Xmas lights in it.
Y'all. I didn't know how well using frost cloth and incandescent c9 lights would work. Holy shit. I have PEPPERS growing outside still! Peas are blossoming! Collards are happy! It's fucking crazy. We're lucky if it's above 30° (1.1° C) at night now.

Three planters outside bursting with blooms from mums and petunias.
Several sunflowers still blooming.
A floral arrangement in a green watering can featuring a sunflower blossom, several red and white and purple roses, snapdragons, and Russian sage.
I'm #zone7a and I am also baffled. The 1st two are from today.
The roses are from a few days ago while I was pruning.
Chives and cilantro in a bowl.
Chicken fajitas garnished with chives and cilantro.
Last harvest of the season! Chives and cilantro.

A Scarlet Snapdragon plant with leaves that have turned lime green. It's the only one in the bed that has done that.
My other snapdragons are all that are left alive in this particular bed but they are blossoms are just brilliant in tones of pinks and reds.
A new red rose blossom. There are actually quite a lot of roses still blooming but I can only post four photos at a time.
My bird-given sunflowers in my front bed with two of them now blooming and two more with big fat heads getting ready to pop.
Things are still blooming. In mid November. This is nuts.

Two magnetic whiteboard calendars marked for starting seeds indoors on one and direct sewing and transplanting on the other.
My schedule so far for starting indoor seeds in February.
My schedule for direct sewing and transplanting in March. Thanks to Kratos for holding it up.
🌱 Winter is a good break, but at the same time, I need to keep up with garden tasks or I'll lose interest. Thanks, #AuDHD! Anyway, having fun plotting out my calendars for next year's greenhouse starts and direct sown seeds. What do you do to keep up your #Garden hobby in winter? #gardensky #zone7a
My gray kitty lays in a very soft black and white flannel fluffy blanket that is wrapped all around him and he can just pull himself in if you want to and he also likes to just kind of explore under it when he's not sleeping.
He is yawning a huge yawn after coming out of his cave to see me.
He reached out for my hands as soon as he finished yawning. 😍🥰
A close up while I put his head where you can see his little snaggle tooth on his left side.
Faramir the Grey, son of Denethor, Prince of Ithilien, and perfect familiar, recommends creating a blanket cave on dreary days.
Also, his snaggletooth kills me.

I'm in Utah #zone7a and somehow, my roses are going crazy. This never happens after our first frost.
Oh, goodness! I was excited and overwhelmed about my 4 dozen bulbs out there growing. 😂 I think I'll try some squash in those beds after harvest - unless they won't work next to carrots? Most my squash will go in a back garden with corn and potatoes but I'm always up for a change. Good luck! #zone7a
A branch of a raspberry bush, with leaves just starting to yellow, has several ripe red Raspberries clinging to the end.
A few clusters of multiple raspberries as they are just beginning to ripening on the branch. A couple of ripe red raspberries can also be seen, as well as lots of green leaves in the background.
October raspberries just hit differently 💜
