We spent a few days in #Abisko National Park last summer. A handsome Red-spotted #Bluethroat #Blåhake was one of many beatyful birds that we saw near #Trollsjön (Troll Lake) close to #Riksgränsen and the Norwegian border. I used my #Nikon #D500 with a 200-500 VR tele lens for this #photo. #Wildlife

The image shows the same scene as the previous picture, with a lot of stars in the sky, one small vertical red aurora band in centre and a very bright streak at lower right. The images by this webcam have short exposure times. Given the lenght of the streak it must be a very bright meteor. Image taken 15 September 2025 at 00:09:32 local time.
Unexpected nice #aurora in the second half of last night over northern Europe. The #Abisko lightsoverlapland.com aurora webcam delivered beautiful images from right after midnight till dawn. At 00:09:32 local time it also catched a bright meteor (a so-called bolide).

Snow scooter training today and yesterday at #Abisko - mandatory for people in Sweden working on scooters. Delighted to pass. It's been a long time.
Sadly, I won't get an actual licence card (probably) but the pass is sufficient for #iQ2300 fieldwork in Antarctica

Dwie inne atrakcje to zrekonstruowana przez #STF wioska Saamów (Samivistet), położona ok. 100 m od stacji kolejowej oraz Aurora Sky Station - obserwatorium astronomiczne, punkt obserwacji zorzy polarnej na górze Nuolja (niestety nie skorzystałem…). W #Abisko warto spędzić przynajmniej 2-3 dni.
