Even at times like that, when reason, science, medicine and human solidarity are under attack - there is hope - I had a great time visiting the super team at Tulane, giving two talks, seeing old friends, acquiring new ones - and discussing #CurePF4All

Before you start telling me about your favorite coffee place in Bar Harbor - truth is Desert Island is a coffee Desert, where they still serve in prime hotels 80’s style American coffee from a glass pitcher, and state at you with contempt when you ask about an espresso

I don’t usually do breakfasts, just coffee. But in my London hotel breakfast was only a la cart (not buffet), included, and irresistible. On three mornings, I had fresh fruit Eggs Florentine, Shakshuka Avocado toast - all were superb, kept me going till dinner 🙂.

As my triennial ends and I have one more talk, I realize how grateful to all the colleagues
that invited and hosted me, the early, mid and late career friends that shared insights, worries, scoops, the group discussions, the dinners, and of course the coffees.

My first #PCCMEats post on #MedBlue - I did not cook it - but it felt as if I did.
Amazing Polish food in South Kensington’s Ognisko. Exquisite herring, sublime pierogis (mushroom & sauerkraut, cheese & potato, duck & figs), whole duck with cherries & buckwheat

Some things never get old - like changing slides on the night before a talk, in a hotel room, using the two monitor set up

I consider myself a pretty decent cook. I also respect simplicity, accuracy, taste, produce, terroir. That’s why I know I’ll never be able to make pasta with fresh porcini as good as they do in almost any random restaurant here. this. time. of year.

As we approach the feast of the Epiphany, can can we consider the Magi? We know that they were #academicnomads. Most likely they were astronomers. Were they going to or returning from a conference? Were they postdocs or PI's?
