Grateful to Ave Astra for publishing this poem, that is really special to me as it outlines ideas of #neuroqueering the spaces where most connections and thus opportunities are made, which are currently incredible #neurotypical

Being #actualautistic I don't like the term "severe". You should specify what severe symptoms the person has.

My work focuses on the power of focused interests for autistic female well-being. This is partially rooted in my own monotropism centered on books and the joy and peace I get from reading.
Here is what that looked like for me in January. ❤️📖

My memory of family Christmas TV in the 70s and 80s was my dad deciding what we watched and often falling asleep.
You couldn’t read a book or go off to your room as that was anti-social.
Hitting 16 and being able to go pub was sweet release from a hostage situation.

“…there's often complex trauma that must be addressed & working on healthy #AUTISTIC coping skills… Autistic #therapy (IME) can only be done well if the #therapist is also autistic.”
As an #ActualAutistic #AuDHD therapist, I heartily concur. Our work preserves necessary autistic #stims & joy! 🤸♀️💃🏻🕺🏻
I'm pleased to see the press presenting #autism-positive perspectives to counter the serial killer's propaganda-
But would be more delighted if press were to seek out and solicit opinions of #ActualAutistic individuals vice parents and allies
#Autistic people have voices even where non-verbal
Hi. #ActualAutistic who has an Aut husband and daughter and, as I say, know lots of Auties. Sitting quiet and minding your own business is not the same as purposefully fogging someone. You don’t need to be verbal to offer support. This thread is about abusive behaviour not mutism.
I'm autistic and I know what Nazi salute is.

As an #ActualAutistic person I know how much sensory issues increase with age. Being overly tuned into strange smells and noises can be hard.
However, it can be helpful. You can detect coolant leaks before anyone else, for instance. Still, it can be annoying too.

My month of being mainly in the office is over.
I am cream crackered!
The noise and the bright lights and the interaction is tiring.
But nothing is as tiring as the masking. And my workplace is very progressive.
I can have a lie in tomorrow.

Our Boss does a video message every week. I asked if we could have a transcript sent out too because automated CCs on YouTube are rubbish. This would make the videos more accessible. They did that. I take great pleasure in seeing other staff popping into that document. #ActualAutistic #Dyslexic
An #Autistic #SurvivalTip for going grocery shopping! As an #ActualAutistic I have trouble being in crowded areas that are full of people and loud! So I love using my #AirPodsMax even with #ANC off they help! Also go when it is less busy and I also love small independent grocery…
Dear Festival organisers,
Can you provide a map in advance please?
You have an accessibility section on your website. Knowing there are accessible bogs etc is fab but it helps to know where everything is before I arrive.
Thank you.

Saw Dara Ó Briain performing new stuff in New Malden yesterday.
Hence tired today.
And got choir concert tonight.
And have to go into the office tomorrow.
And an all dayer on Sunday.
I think I need a day off. From people. #ActualAutistic
I am in the office every day this week. First time since March 2020.
I am very tired. So much noise. I thankfully only have a 15 min commute.
Home working is an absolute gift. #ActualAutistic
