A huge heavy and quite rare vintage 1970s handmade sterling silver minimalist modernist Heart design pendant necklace by Andreas Mikkelsen in Denmark. Super heavy gauge sterling silver sheet cut-out into a heart shaped pendant, and with two length of sterling chain leading to a unique handmade closure at rear. Entirely handmade knockout design piece of wearable art jewelry! Mikkelsen was both a manager at Georg Jensen and an independent goldsmith. Mikkelsen joined the Georg Jensen silversmithy in 1955, initially as a member of the management team. He became head of sales, head of production and product development and eventually managing director. He left Jensen in 1969-70. At this time he was developing his own artistic talents and collaborated with the silversmith Ove Wendt between 1970 and 1978 as well as working independently. This pendant is from that short period where he was designing for himself, and collaborating with Ove Wendt. The pendant measures just under 3.75" wide by 3" tall, and hangs on an integral 23" chain with unique handmade closure at rear. The necklace weighs 84.6 grams total. Marked as shown in my closeup photos, "Andreas Mikkelsen Denmark 925S" and design number "26". There are also two small hallmarks at center that I cannot make out, but are likely import marks into another country where this necklace would have been originally sold, most likely in Europe. Super rare design, super heavy construction, and striking minimalist modernist design! Excellent vintage condition.

A huge and quite rare vintage 1980s handmade sterling silver post-modernist minimalist pear-shaped money clip design by Andreas Mikkelsen for Georg Jensen in Denmark. A single length of heavy gauge sterling silver wire in an overall pear shape! Genius design! The very definition of minimalism! He rejoined Jensen in 1979 and in the 1980s started designing jewelry and other products for the company. Besides jewelry items like necklaces, rings, bracelets etc, he also designed cufflinks, tie bars, and money clips as well as everyday objects like keyrings, picture frames, wall-clocks, and watches for both men and women. He has also designed several Christmas ornaments and candlesticks for Georg Jensen. His designs are often minimalist and without ornament. This money clip is a perfect example of his design aesthetic both at Georg Jensen, and his independent designs as well! The money clip measures just under 4" tall by 2-3/8" wide, and is satisfyingly weighty at 33.4 grams total. Marked as shown with the post-1945 Jensen mark in a dotted oval, also "A. Mik Denmark 925S". There is no design number, so this may be a one-off, or may not, but I've never seen it before, and it's the largest money clip that I've seen in my 45+ year career! Excellent vintage condition.
