This square photo shows a close-up of an Anise Hyssop bloom. It is a vertical, spiky flower in various shades of purple. She is a medicinal and culinary herb in the mint family, and her serrated green leaves do indeed look like spearmint leaves. Anise Hyssop is a perennial in zones 3 through 8. In my zone 7b (USA) garden she usually grows 4 feet tall by 3 feet wide, and she is popular with pollinators including bees, butterflies and hummingbirds. Photo ©Reese Amorosi for GlamorosiCooks.com
Our Anise Hyssop is blooming; the whole plant is covered in spiky purple flowers. Pollinators love her, as do I - I cannot imagine my garden without her.

I grew this Anise Hyssop (Agastache foeniculum) from seed. It was fairly tame the first two years, but it really took over this summer. In fact, it has crowded out a significant chunk of the Wild Bergamot!
