I finally got around to switching my desktop to Xlibre. I went with a combo of Artix, Mate, and OpenRC. So far no issues and was as easy as installing any other distro.

Neues Jahr, neue Linux-Distribution: Artix • Iromeisters Abenteuerreise Leute, ich habe ein Déjà-vu. Im November 2007 hatte ich hier schon mal unter dem Titel Gentoos schwer wiegende Nachteile geschrieben Dieses Kompilieren nimmt dermassen viel Zeit (& Festplattenplatz) in Anspruch, dass ich fast sagen kann mein Notebook ist hauptsächlich damit beschäftigt, das System auf dem aktuellen Stand zu halten. Was das selber kompilieren an Beschleunigung beim Ausführen der Programme bringt, steht in keinem Verhältnis zum Aufwand für das Kompilieren selber. Genau das gleiche erlebe ich nun wieder. Das weitaus dickste Paket ist inzwischen allerdings Chromium, dessen komprimierter (!) Quelltext über ein Gigabyte groß ist (chromium-143.0.7499.109-linux.tar.xz hat 1088 MB). Ich sage ja, Komplexität ist der Feind… Damals fiel meine Wahl für eine Gentoo-Alternative ja auf Arch Linux, und der einzige Grund, warum ich von Arch wieder auf Gentoo umgestiegen war, ist systemd. Das kommt mir nämlich nicht in die Tüte.

Heute bin ich von #Gentoo auf #Artix #Linux umgestiegen:
