The study suggests that age-related decline in brain drainage may contribute to the protein build-up associated with Alzheimer’s disease.

This discovery opens new avenues for understanding disease mechanisms and developing targeted treatments.

"To be a person is to be intrinsically relational." ~ Dr. James Houston

People with Alzheimer's and other causes of dementia are persons, and they will always be persons, no matter how far the disease has advanced. Because personhood is imparted, it cannot be lost due to fading cognition. There are no human "shells." Retained personhood means that relationships are possible regardless of the stage of disease. We have to tap deeply, and let the substance of their selves meld with our own, as we are fully present with them. No words have to be exchanged. Only the light, the warmth and the energy of love.

Alzheimer's disease and other forms of dementia steal memory, independence, judgement and more. But they can never steal love, legacy, and humanity.

“Grief, I’ve learned, is really just love. It’s all the love you want to give, but cannot. All that unspent love gathers up in the corners of your eyes, the lump in your throat, and in that hollow part of your chest. Grief is just love with no place to go.”

~ Jamie Anderson

Sharing #grief is not cathartic because it makes the grief go away -- it does not. It is cathartic because it allows others to share their love with you. Let that love envelop you.
