Lana has pulled the timber out of her backside and notes it will result in painful splinters. She and Delilah, still in the bathtub, discuss how Lana came to be in the crawlspace between floors and why Delilah is sitting in the bathtub fully clothed. When Lana refuses to let go of that latter question Delilah snaps and admits, among other things, that her mother used to lock her in a closet when she messed up. This gives Lana pause before she notes that Delilah had a messed up childhood. Delilah reminds Lana that her mother tried to eat her, which Lana passes off as normal for her species.

Lana stop being fun to draw challenge. Rating: Impossible.

Delilah is curled into a ball of misery hugging her knees in the bathtub. She laments the horrible day she's having and comments how she just wants to be left alone. At that point the ceiling collapses. Delilah throws up her hands and accepts this as proof the universe personally hates her. Lana, rising up from the rubble, notes that it's weird Delilah said that when she's the one with a broken ceiling joist shoved up her backside.

I've said it before and I'll say it again, any day I get an excuse to draw Lana is a good one.

Ben cringes as he flips through the magazine and contemplates offering Delilah the use of his doom-bots for revenge. Delilah swings the door open to glare at him and explain that all she wants right now is to be left alone. After she slams the door again Ben ponders what exactly she meant and Jeremiah points out they should just listen to her and leave her alone to go get some booze to wash the taste of maturity out of his mouth.

And now some confirmation that the title of those articles wasn't misleading click-bait and they really were that bad.

Jeremiah walks upstairs to find Ben still trying to get Delilah, who has locked herself in the bathroom, to talk to him. Ben says he doesn't know what's got her so upset and Jeremiah shows him the magazine cover. Ben has the same disturbed response Jeremiah had last comic and Jeremiah points it out.

If you're wondering why she didn't suspect something from that outfit, it's because they took a huge mess of different pictures in different outfits and didn't tell her which one they'd use.

Jeremiah is sorting mail when he gets interrupted watching Ben follow Delilah upstairs and asking Delilah why she's so upset. He then finds a copy of the magazine with he interview in the mail and reacts with severe discomfort as he comments on not liking having his questions immediately answered.

Full honesty, caffeine is probably magical in their world, magic kind of gets everywhere and contaminates everything, like radioactive glitter.

We cut to Ban's store sign as he talks with a customer. The conversation is interrupted by the door ringing and Delilah, looking miserable and with a cloud of depression following her trudges past both. Ben explains to the customer that he's going to go check on his friend and leaves behind a vaguely Furby-looking doll to handle the customer. The customer takes this in for a moment before telling Ben that he's having trouble not finding this insulting.

He should feel honored, that's a first-run Pawsly, those are pretty valuable these days with collectors.

Gabrio leaves the meeting but Delilah is asked to stay behind. The guild head begins asking her a leading series of question regarding their PR policies before shoving a copy of the magazine she did an interview for in her face. AS a result Delilah is extremely uncomfortable and makes a face like she just sat naked on a pinecone.

Pretty much all major organizations have policies like that and you can get in serious trouble for violating them.

Azer slams down his hand on the desk, interrupting Gabrio to begin yelling at him. Chastised but defiant, Gabrio defends himself. Azer then slumps back in his chair, acknowledging the defense while explaining the discipline Gabrio should expect. He snarks off about this, something Azer points out is severely unwise.

It's like being savaged by angry bureaucratic dandelion fluff.

A laptop shows the undead monster from the previous BnJ cold open. The guild head discusses the image and it's shown Gabrio and Delilah are seated opposite him. After Gabrio pulls an "I told you so" Aver, the guild head, asks him if that's really the direction he anticipated for this meeting.

Of course the contrarian nature of people in positions like that being what they are, he might actually have gotten away with that if he hadn't said it out loud.

Lana, in her monstrous form, bellows challenge at a giant ape-like monster. We then cut to both of them clinging to the side of a building as they argue over schedule. The ape shows her his comically small planner and she notes his date looks wrong. He becomes concerned and it's revealed he's already got a kidnapped princess in his hand who's getting impatient enough with the need to use the restroom.

I do love any excuse to draw Lana in her natural form. I just wish I was better at macro stuff since she throws the scale off so much around other characters and settings.

Ben enters drinking coffee and talks to Delilah seated on the couch. The two discuss her idea of getting Jeremiah a tequila gift basket. When Ben discourages it Delilah assumes it's over the generic nature or the issues with Jeremiah's drinking. But Ben clarifies it's because he has a blood feud with the brand of tequila over a fist fight he had with their mascot.

I think way too many people overthink gifts, just about the only rule that makes sense to me is the "don't give a pet as a surprise gift because inflicting those responsibilities on someone without them asking is rude."

Delilah kicks back reading on the couch while Ben asks if she forgot to clean out the drain in the shower. When she asks how he knows it was her, Ben holds up her severed arm as proof. Delilah, now revealed to be missing an arm admits she felt a little lopsided.

The "and what about the showers?" is one of my favorite furry logistics questions. I assume a drain protection similar to the one used in grooming salons.

MD explaining the nature of the planet in BNJ over a number of diagrams. The first 2 show a normal planet in both rounded and flattened form. The 3rd shows that the planet sits within a much larger planet whose inside resembles the night sky and that the planet has an extra axis denoting the flow of magical energy. The final diagram shows a cutaway view of the the inner and outer planets, showing that the sun orbits between them.

Honestly, once magic is on the table I categorically recommend ignoring the traditional planet shape.

Delilah and Celine play tether ball, it then cuts to the beach sprite and MD. The sprite confirms that this has fulfilled their quota of beach nonsense but is then disturbed to learn that MD interpreted the knife as a promise to stab them as a reward.

MD is shown drawing the comic only to be interrupted by the magical appearance of a small figure identifying themselves as "Beachy, the Beach Episode Sprite." Beachy explains they think MD has failed to deliver on the beach episode premise of the current arc. When MD disagrees the sprite pulls out a comically oversized knife and points out that they have an extremely loose code of personal ethics as a form of threat.

Later MD will go on to annoy their golfing group by relentlessly quoting facts about beach episodes.
