Images of that day go through my head Never the same kind of day As anything may come for me My people die all around me Or get snatched off the streets What if I can't leave in time? Sooner or later it'll come for me Am I ready?

Is it even possible to be ready? To be ready to fight To be ready to lose To be ready to die Just because of who I am Will anyone even protect me? When they come for me like a criminal Will there be any point in fighting? What if I try to escape and don't make it? Will I be formally executed like Nat Turner Or Sophie Scholl? Or will I not even get that luxury? Will I be hunted and killed like a pest By racist vigilantes Who fancy themselves heroes?

When they come for me Will it be because I'm Black Because they think I'm a woman? Because I'm trans? Because I'm gay? The possibilities are endless And as I feel the walls closing in on me I fear I'm not prepared It'll come when I least expect it Or maybe I'll see it coming a mile away But will it even matter? When they come for me What will I do?
