It’s fun to watch the seasons of cactus this year. They are changing colours, starting little blossom buds, and tiny barrel cacti are getting little colourful flower sprouts. There is something magical about Christmas in the desert.

A bright purple cholla bloom appears in sharp focus at lower right. Out of focus and farther back we see the stalk of the cactus, while just behind the bloom are several buds surrounded by thorns.

Here's to #spring - a particularly thorny one, looks like.
