Burslem Market to open again in 2027 due to £4Million investment from council.
I remember it in the 1960 s and 1970 s as a vibrant and thriving place, full of friendly faces.

Well, that’s the first time in the two months since I moved to just north of #Stoke, that I’ve walked through #Burslem Park and actually seen the bloody fountain working. And yes, I’ve been checking.
Maybe it’s just turned on in Spring.
Slow motion because it’s classy. 🙂
Popped in for coffee to my favourite little café in #Burslem, #Stoke, again, and overlooked by me previously, spotted this painting of Robbie Williams, who was born and raised in the pub opposite.
My local favourite café, the Market Place Café in #Burslem, has this rather oddball collection of tiles as its doorstep.
Apparently Victorian, apparently rescued from the House of Commons in London during a refit, possibly during the 1960s.
I just love random weird stuff.

Apart from the stresses of modern urban life, that scene has hardly changed
Having not long ago moved to Staffordshire, just north of Stoke, my continuous search for really good cafés continues.
My favourite so far, the Market Place Café in #Burslem. I caught it when it was just open for the day. Superb bacon sandwich. Very lush and comfy inside.

White on black image (possibly taken from a blueprint) of the front façade of the two storey baths building, with a small single storey area on the right, possibly a later extension. A Turkish bath attendant was paid 27/- per wk, & a women's shampooer 5/- per day. A Turkish bath cost 1/-, or 6d. after 4.00 p.m. Turkish baths appear in works by author and Turkish bath user #arnoldbennett, the well-known chronicler of the Five Towns.
White on black plan (possibly taken from a blueprint) of the main bath area. A main reception area has separate entrances to slipper baths for men and women on the left (so they could be used independently of the Turkish baths on the right—which had different opening times for men and women. The Turkish bath rooms shown are the cooling and dressing room, vapour bath, shampooing room, two dry hot air rooms, and the plunge bath.
#OnThisDay, 27 Jan in 1896, Public Baths, with a #TurkishBath department, were opened by #Burslem Corporation. 'Elegant Moorish doorways' separated the two hot rooms, cooling & shampooing rooms, Russian vapour bath—all wall tiled & with encaustic tiled floor—& plunge.
