A small bee sat on a long white petal. It's a side view of a ~10mm long bee which is mail black with white fur highlights, and stripes on its thorax. The underside of its abdomen is covered in yellow hairs, and pollen. It's also got a dusting of yellow pollen on its legs, its head, and its jaws.

Can anyone give some help with an #idrequest? I think this is a Large Headed Resin #bee, taken today on a small Oxeye Daisy, near Southampton. It seems to be in their range, but my #id skills mean I'm struggling to confirm it. #solitarybee #invertebrates #bwars

Alexanders (Smyrnium olusatrum) is in full flower here on the east coast and the scent is overpowering in sunny weather. This Cliff Mining bee was gathering it's pale pollen for her nearby nest.

Fun fact. Water Figwort (Scrophularia auriculata) is pollinated by wasps, not bees. Here's a wasp (probably Symmorphus gracilis) exploring one of our late opening Water Figwort flowers.
