Clearly Boris never got the memo, he's been working on this #BorisBridge across the channel for ages as a scheme to generate more building contacts for #Carillion to get.
And this is it - in a nutshell. Outsourcing is easier, not cheaper. And it is certainly not less risky. Public AND private sectors all make BIG mistakes and errors of judgement - just the public sector gets the media attention and scrutiny #carillion

Awarding major public service contracts follows a really strict and fair process. More often than not the price is the most heavily weighted criteria, and if one supplier comes in much cheaper than the others they win the contract. Looks like #Carillion under-quoted to win.

Here's the solution to the #Carillion crisis. The government takes over the company without payment, sacks the obviously useless board (without massive golden handshakes) and turns it into an old fashioned ministry of works. Then get on with building some bloody council houses!
