Ooh, just spotted all the Black Medick, Medicago lupulina, in the second photo, so that's another #PeaFamily one for the #WildflowerHour #CarrotsAndPeas challenge!
An amazing #wildflowerhour tonight! Absolutely loved seeing all your contributions for the #carrotsandpeas challenge! 🫛🥕
Huge thanks to all who took part, see you again next Sunday and happy plant spotting! 😀
I think this is pignut in my garden
Pignut (?) leaves
Not sure if this a trefoil or a medick?!
Just had a “that wasn’t there yesterday!” moment in the garden and found some pignut in the lawn. Also pictured something that needs #wildflowerID #carrotsandpeas #wildflowerhour
For some reason I forgot about the carrots, so it’s peas only! Black medick, White and Red clover. #carrotsandpeas #WildflowerHour
My one and only #CarrotFamily entry for this week's #WildflowerHour #CarrotsAndPeas challenge. Pignut, Conopodium majus, at Ravensbourne Meadows.
Slender Trefoil, Trifolium micranthum (with Upright Chickweed capsule for scale!), and Lesser Trefoil, Trifolium dubium, at Keston War Memorial. #WildflowerHour #CarrotsAndPeas #PeaFamily
Some lovely colour variation amongst the flowers of Bush Vetch on a hedge bank today, where they were growing with lots of Crosswort #carrotsandpeas (the peas bit anyway) #WildflowerHour
Lots of Rough Clover, Trifolium scabrum, to be found at Shoreham Beach. #WildflowerHour #CarrotsAndPeas #PeaFamily
Kidney Vetch, Anthyllis vulneraria, looking splendidly fluffy at Shoreham Beach. #WildflowerHour #CarrotsAndPeas #PeaFamily
Only one slightly ragged flower out, but I was super excited to finally see some Yellow Vetch, Vicia lutea, in flower! I've only ever seen leaves before. Seen during yesterday's @WildFlowerSoc meeting at Shoreham Beach. #WildflowerHour #CarrotsAndPeas #PeaFamily
I definitely had stars in my eyes when we saw the Starry Clover, Trifolium stellatum, at Shoreham Beach yesterday, during an excellent @WildFlowerSoc field meeting. 🤩 A timely find for a #PeaFamily entry in the #WildflowerHour #CarrotsAndPeas challenge....
Coolage of four flower photos.
#WildflowerHour #carrotsandpeas Saltmarsh at Shingle Street, Suffolk:
Sea Pea & Tree Lupin
Hemlock with a view & Cow Parsley supporting Common Vetch.
Bush vetch growing on a very old road bank near us - always has the best array of wildflowers through the spring and summer. #wildflowerhour #carrotsandpeas
Cow parsley, anthriscus sylvestris or 'Queen Anne's lace' if you prefer #wildflowerhour #carrotsandpeas 🌱
Hogweed looking rather pink and beautiful #Carrotsandpeas #WildflowerHour
A plant with small pinkish purple flowers in amongst long grass.
Seen from above, a round flower head made of lots of smaller heads, umbellifer-style. The flowerlets are sill in bud, and are tinged a slightly murky pink.
Some sort of vetch in a local meadow, and a wild carrot on its way in our own garden. #carrotsandpeas #WildflowerHour
Sainfoin flowering in a field margin in Ely. #carrotsandpeas #WildflowerHour
A plant whose leaf stems bear dozens of little leaflets in rows, shorter towards the tip. The tips of the stems end in tendrils which haven't found anything to cling onto. There is a single purple flower, shaped like a smaller version of a sweet pea.
My contribution for #CarrotsAndPeas this week on #WildflowerHour - Common Vetch growing in, erm, a hanging basket outside my front door. Another long botany field trip this week, then!

Bush Vetch, Vicia sepium on a woodland edge near Monmouth.
A couple of small yellow peas for #WildflowerHour. First is a Spotted Medick seen on a local walk, a second is a Lesser Trefoil seen even closer to home on the drive. #carrotsandpeas
It’s Sunday & it’s 8pm so it must be time for #wildflowerhour! Please share your pics of the wild & naturalised plants you’ve found from across Britain & Ireland especially if they are members of the #carrotsandpeas families, the focus of this week’s challenge!
Red clover in my wildflower lawn catching the sunlight
Pignut in the field behind the terrace, tiny groups of white flowers arranged like a group of white parasols
Vetch just starting to flower in my garden
Cow parsley along a farm track
As Archie’s been on light duties I’ve not been out as much as usual this week, but here are a few #carrotsandpeas for #wildflowerhour
Cow Parsley and Buttercups. Not so much #CarrotsAndPeas as #ButteredCarrots 😄

The beautiful botanical illustration of different members of the Pea family above is from The Concise British Flora in Colour by William Keble Martin.
Find a member of the pea or carrot family, that’s the challenge this week from Wild Flower Hour! Don’t be tempted to eat them up though, as some members of the carrot family are extremely poisonous ☠️ Post your finds for #wildflowerhour this Sunday 8-9pm using #carrotsandpeas!
In #BradfieldWoods today two of my favourite 'carrots', Pignut (Conopodium majus) & Sanicle (Sanicula europea). No peas, but Wild Strawberry (Fragaria vesca) & Wood Dog Violet (Viola reichenbachiana).
