RIVER CLYDE
Celtic have had various links with the River Clyde.
Many fans and players (in the days before big wages) worked at different shipyards.
And in 2017, the league trophy was brought to Celtic Park via speedboat!

MEADOWSIDE
One of Partick Thistle’s homes before Firhill was Meadowside, next to the Clyde.
In 1907, Celtic won the title at this ground, the third of their 1905-10 ‘six in a row’ run.
This also completed the first ever Scottish Cup and League double.

KELVIN HALL
In 1951, the Festival of Britain was held. One part of this was the St Mungo Cup, featuring 16 Scottish teams.
Celtic beat Aberdeen in the final, and received the trophy at an event in the Kelvin Hall.

After the 1902 Ibrox Disaster, Rangers held a British League Cup to raise funds.
The prize was the trophy from the 1901 Exhibition Cup.
Celtic beat Rangers – and still have the trophy, despite Rangers asking for it back!

KELVINGROVE ART GALLERY
Kelvingrove Art Gallery was paid for with the proceeds from the 1888 Glasgow Exhibition.
Celtic came back to play in the 1901 Exhibition Cup. The Bhoys lost the final to Rangers.
But that wasn’t the end…

YORKHILL QUAY
In 1931, Celtic went on their first American tour, playing 14 friendlies. They later signed Joe Kennaway based on this trip.
15,000 fans came to wave them off as they left Yorkhill Quay, travelling on the RMS Caledonia.

GROVE STADIUM, BREADALBANE STREET
The World War Two era saw the establishment of the Celtic Supporters’ Association.
Many of their early meetings were held in Grove Stadium, a boxing venue in the West End.

TRINITY CHURCH
Located in Claremont Street, Trinity Congregational Church (now shut) held a memorial event for Celtic’s tragic goalkeeper, John Thomson.
He had been accidentally killed days earlier during a Rangers v Celtic game at Ibrox.

SFA HEADQUARTERS
From 1957-2001, the Scottish FA headquarters were located at Park Gardens.
Celtic had numerous arguments here, especially Fergus McCann’s fight with Jim Farry in the 1990s, which saw the SFA Chief Executive lose his job.

BOER WAR MEMORIAL
Celtic had different Boer War connections.
Some Celts fought in the war, and the Board was divided on supporting it.
Also, in 1899, Celtic hosted a south African team, the first all-black side to play in Scotland.

GLASGOW UNIVERSITY - 2
Different Celts – directors and players - have attended Glasgow University.
This includes Dr Willie Kivlichan, who played for Celtic and Rangers.
A joint Celtic/Rangers team also played the Glasgow University team in 1936.

WILLIE MALEY’S HOUSE, HYNDLAND AVENUE
Willie Maley is a club legend and longest serving manager (officially, 43 years).
Based on trophies won, he's Celtic’s most successful manager.
In the early 1900s, he moved to the West End.

HAMILTON CRESCENT CRICKET GROUND
This was the site of the world’s first international football game.
In 1872, 4000 fans watched Scotland draw 0-0 with England.
Over the years, Celtic Park has hosted 26 Scotland games too.
